How Ford Rebates Work

Ford offers thousands of dollars in rebates on new vehicles every month. Here is how they work, what types exist, and how Jensen Ford stacks them to get you the lowest price.

What Are Ford Rebates?

Rebates are manufacturer incentives — money from Ford Motor Company, not the dealer — designed to reduce the price of new vehicles. Ford adjusts rebate programs monthly based on inventory levels, sales targets, and market conditions.

The key thing to understand: rebates are separate from the dealer discount. At Jensen Ford, you get both. Our Jensen Price starts with a dealer discount below MSRP, then every eligible rebate is stacked on top. The result is the lowest possible price, with every line item visible.

Cash Rebate vs. Special APR — Which Is Better?

Ford sometimes offers a choice: take the full cash rebate or take a special APR financing rate. The right choice depends on the loan amount and term.

For example, on a $35,000 vehicle with $3,000 cash back versus 1.9% APR for 60 months: the cash rebate saves $3,000 upfront, while the special APR saves roughly $2,800 in interest over the loan. In this case, the cash back wins — but on larger loans or longer terms, the APR savings may be greater.

Your Jensen Ford finance team will calculate both scenarios for your specific deal so you can compare and choose the option that saves you the most money overall.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Ford rebates?
Ford rebates are discounts offered by Ford Motor Company to reduce the purchase price of new Ford vehicles. They come in several forms — customer cash, bonus cash, special financing rates, and trade-in assistance. Rebates are funded by Ford, not the dealer, and they change monthly based on inventory and sales goals.
What is Retail Customer Cash?
Retail Customer Cash is the most common Ford rebate. It is a flat dollar amount deducted from the vehicle price and is available to all buyers. For example, $2,500 Retail Customer Cash means $2,500 off the purchase price. This rebate can usually be combined with other offers.
What is Bonus Cash?
Bonus Cash is an additional rebate offered on top of Retail Customer Cash. Ford uses Bonus Cash to move specific models or trims. It stacks with Customer Cash and is applied directly to the price. Bonus Cash offers change frequently and may only be available for a limited time.
Can I combine Ford rebates with special APR financing?
Sometimes. Ford often offers a choice: take the full cash rebate or take a lower APR financing rate. In some cases, you can get both a reduced cash rebate and a special rate. Your Jensen Ford sales team will calculate both options so you can see which saves more over the life of the loan.
What is Ford trade-in assistance?
Trade-in assistance is a rebate that requires you to trade in a vehicle. It is typically $500 to $1,500 and is applied on top of your trade-in value and other rebates. The trade-in vehicle must be in your name and does not need to be a Ford.
Do rebates change every month?
Yes. Ford updates rebate programs monthly and sometimes mid-month. The rebates available today may not be available next month, and new rebates may appear. Jensen Ford stays current on every program and will make sure you receive every rebate you qualify for at the time of purchase.
Can I use rebates with X-Plan pricing?
Yes. Most Ford rebates stack with X-Plan pricing. You get the formula-based X-Plan price plus eligible customer cash, bonus cash, and other incentives. This combination often results in the lowest possible price on a new Ford.
Are Ford rebates already included in Jensen Ford prices?
Yes. The Jensen Price shown on our website includes all currently available rebates for which a typical buyer qualifies. Our price breakdown shows the MSRP, dealer discount, and each rebate line item so you can see exactly where the savings come from.
Do I have to be a first responder or military to get rebates?
No. The most common rebates — Retail Customer Cash and Bonus Cash — are available to all buyers. Ford does offer additional rebates for first responders, military, college students, and Ford Credit customers, but the base rebates are open to everyone.
